Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are used to fill out lines and reshape the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm® and Teoxane® used at our clinic have become available over the last 5 – 6 years and are very popular due to the natural appearance and their safety. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring carbohydrate that occurs in our skin. It attracts water to give a plump, moisturised, youthful look.
Juvederm® and Teoxane® last between 9-18 months. The aesthetic effects are immediate and you can usually return to work or resume your social life the same day.
Dermal fillers can be used to improve:
- Deep ‘smile lines’ that run from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
- ‘Marionette lines’ running from the corner of the mouth downwards.
- Restoring cheek volume
- Defining lip border as well as adding fullness to the body of the lip.
- ‘Smokers lines’ which are vertical lines on the top lip.
- ‘Crows feet’ at the corner of the eyes.

All Other Dermal Filler Areas
Dermal filler treatment for the cheeks, nose-to-mouth lines, marionette lines, temples, jawline shaping, labiomental crease and chin augmentation is priced at £295 for the first 1ml. Where additional product is required to achieve the desired result, each further 1ml is £175 when administered during the same treatment session. The amount of filler required will vary depending on the treatment area, your individual facial anatomy and the desired outcome, and this will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Are Dermal Fillers safe?
Dermal fillers are medical aesthetic treatments and, like all injectable procedures, carry potential risks.
Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness.
Less common but potentially serious complications can also occur, including infection and vascular occlusion, where filler inadvertently affects the blood supply to tissue. Very rare complications can be severe.
For this reason, choosing an appropriately trained and experienced medical practitioner is important.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?
Dermal fillers are temporary.
How long your results last will depend on several factors, including:
- The product used
- The area treated
- The amount of filler required
- Your metabolism
- Facial movement
- Lifestyle factors
- Previous treatments
Hyaluronic acid fillers may last anywhere from several months to considerably longer in some areas.

Are dermal fillers permanent?
No. The hyaluronic acid dermal fillers commonly used in aesthetic medicine are temporary. Their longevity varies depending on the product, treatment area and individual patient.
Will dermal filler make me look overfilled?
It shouldn’t. Our approach is conservative and focused on facial balance. The aim is to use the appropriate amount of product to enhance your natural features rather than create unnecessary volume.
Does dermal filler treatment hurt?
You may experience some brief discomfort during treatment. Many hyaluronic acid fillers contain local anaesthetic, and additional measures may be used where appropriate to make treatment more comfortable.
How much filler will I need?
There is no standard amount suitable for everyone. The quantity required depends on your anatomy, treatment area and desired outcome. Dr Eykyn will discuss this with you during your consultation.
Can dermal filler be dissolved?
Many hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate. Dr Eykyn can explain this in more detail during your consultation.
Can dermal fillers be combined with Botox®?
Yes. Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections work in different ways and can often complement each other as part of a personalised facial rejuvenation plan.
Can dermal fillers be combined with skin treatments?
Yes. Depending on your needs, dermal filler may form part of a wider treatment plan alongside SKINVIVE™, Profhilo®, microneedling and other skin rejuvenation treatments. Appropriate treatment intervals will be recommended.
